New Partnerships Provide Content Owners with Ad Insertion Capabilities to Address Revenue Generating Business Models and Workflows
RALEIGH, NC – April 07, 2010 – Inlet Technologies, the leader in innovative solutions for digital media preparation, announced today that it has partnered with three other industry leaders to create a new mix of ad insertion solutions that address the evolving needs of online and mobile video advertising. At NAB 2010, Inlet will not only become the first media-preparation technology provider to demonstrate built-in support for fully-automated ad insertion for live streaming, but will also leverage the expertise of partners mDialog, Omneon Inc. and Vertigo to support ad insertion for a variety of business models and workflows.
“Now that mobile and online video is ubiquitous, it’s time to answer the question of how content owners can make money,” explained John Bishop, senior vice president, products and business development, Inlet Technologies. “With added contributions from our technology partners, we are now able to address a more diverse range of advertising needs for both automated and manual ad insertion. The combined technologies open up online and mobile video advertising options like never before.”
While Inlet is recognized as the de facto standard for preparing digital media content for the Apple iPhone, mDialog is recognized for its industry leading Dynamic Video Ad Insertion technology for the iPhone and other mobile devices. Together at NAB, the two companies will demonstrate new capabilities for inserting video ads into live and on demand content for the iPhone and iPad. These unprecedented capabilities will provide iPhone and iPadTM viewers with a broadcast quality TV ad experience, while creating new revenue opportunities for media publishers and content owners.
Inlet is also working with Omneon to showcase automated ad insertion capabilities for content delivery over IP leveraging the Spectrum broadcast media server. Inlet’s SpinnakerTM streaming appliance extracts a media playlist from the Spectrum server to identify and insert ads at appropriate points in IP-delivered video, enabling opt-outs from the broadcast stream.
Inlet and Vertigo are building on the successful partnership they formed for the recent Olympic Winter Games to create new online video advertising opportunities on the Microsoft IIS Smooth Streaming platform. Vertigo builds custom Microsoft Silverlight online video players that capture ad markers produced by Inlet’s Spinnaker streaming appliance and fetch ads for playback in live content. Vertigo video players also provide deep integration with ad server platforms such as DART, IAB-certified logging and analytics, and real-time health monitoring. Together, the companies provide a dynamic, end-to-end solution for broadcast quality video playback and monetization.
